Green Valley Enterprises, a division of Opportunities, Inc. is seeking a Child Development Specialist to join their Birth to 3 Program.

The goal of the Birth to 3 Program is to empower parents to help children with developmental needs. The program is designed for parents to take an active role in their child’s developmental and emotional growth.

This Child Development Specialist is responsible for providing direct service coordination to support the family and early intervention team as well as special instruction and support/counseling to families when necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Provide and document case management/service coordination services which include assessment of the child and family needs, coordinating, facilitating, and participating in the comprehensive assessment (including but not limited to cognition, receptive and expressive language, gross and fine motor, self-help/ adaptive, social and emotional, feeding and sensory)and Individualized Family Service Plan development with the family. 

  • Work directly with families and early intervention team members, including Physical Therapist, 

  • Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Pathologist, to monitor child’s progress through ongoing assessment and reviews.

  • Provide special instruction services to children and families as part of an early intervention team. 

  • Communicate professionally both verbally and in writing. 

  • Be available and responsive to families and team members by maintaining flexibility, confidentiality and punctuality. 

  • Follow Birth to 3 program timelines and work expectations

  • Work with Birth to 3 service providers, community, and county programs to promote understanding of children’s development and capacities of their families. 

SPECIFICATION 

  • Bachelor of Science in Education; certification in Early Childhood Special Education OR related field/experience (example: Social Work)• State (DPI) licensing 808, 809 or equivalent (preferred, not required)
