The Material Handler moves, processes and wraps materials in accordance with established specifications. Responsible for ensuring quality by identifying nonconforming product and wrapping unit loads for optimal stabilization.
Key Tasks and Duties:
Maintain efficient line operations by wrapping unit loads at a pace consistent with line speed.
Ensure product integrity by identifying nonconforming product, communicating quality observations to the line assistant, and wrapping all unit loads to exact specifications.
Coordinate consistent unit load output by working with team members to communicate, prepare, and move materials.
Demonstrate fundamental knowledge of the general product specifications and line operations.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos and effectively communicate information to customers, consumers or other employees.
Communicate standard information to line assistant and team. Elevate non-standard information to supervisor.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to handle, feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.
Work Environment:
The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may experience a warm working environment during summer months.
